Welcome Video

A very warm welcome to Oak class.

Your teacher is Mrs Nickson and the class teaching assistant is Mrs Gorji. Mrs Barnes is our Special Support Assistant.

Our Autumn term topic is "Family Fortunes.'' This topic involves getting to your child, what makes them special and how they are similar and different to others. We will share photographs on Class Dojo of the different activities and learning experiences in the unit.

As well as all of the fabulous learning experiences we have set up in the unit, we will carry out phonics, literacy and maths activities each day.

Our PE day is Tuesday. Please ensure your PE kit is in school.

Homework will be sent home on a Friday and is to be returned on a Tuesday.

Reading is so important, and is a focus throughout school. We will change your child's  reading book once a week and will label your child's red reading log book with what day we change your child's book. Remember, it is not just about your child reading the book, it is about spending time with your child reading the book together, asking questions about the story and pictures to your child.

We expect the children to read at home to an adult 3 times a week so they can earn reading badges. Children need to read 10 books for a bronze badge, 14 books for silver and 18 books for a gold badge.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please come and speak to one of the adults or send a message on Class Dojo.

We look forward to creating memories and learning experiences together over our year together in Oak Class.
