Welcome to Sycamore Class!
Your teacher is Mrs Gristwood.
Our teaching assistant is Miss Begum.
Mrs Dodgson will be teaching on a Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs Smith will teach P.E on Fridays.
Our P.E days are Mondays and Fridays. Please can you make sure that your child is wearing their full P.E kit on these days. We will be having these sessions outside so they need to be prepared for all weathers.
Homework will be sent out on a Friday and is to be returned on Monday. This gives us time to mark it and get it prepared for the following Friday.
Please make sure that your child's reading book is in school everyday. We especially need it in school on their reading day so that it can be changed. It is essential that your child reads at least three times a week at home.
What are we learning?
This term our topic is 'Where the Wild Things Are'. Please see the newsletter for more information.
We will be learning about the following:
- addition and subtraction
- position and direction
We are continuing to embed good sentence structure including:
- capital letters, full stops and finger spaces
- exclamation marks, question marks and commas
- contractions - didn't, can't, we're
- conjunctions - so, but, or, because, if, when
- expanded noun phrases - big, hairy monkey
- different types of sentences - commands, exclamation, questions and statements
We will be pracitising our writing through different genres.
We expect all children to be reading at least three times a week at home and this needs to be shown through signing your child's reading diary three times. The children will be working towards bronze, silver and gold reading badges. Some of us have nearly reached our bronze awards!
Please also talk about the story that your child is reading at home. Discuss what happens and question them to show understanding. This is a vital part of their learning.
If you have any questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to contact me through Class Dojo or at the end of the school day. I am always happy to help in any way that I can.
Mrs Gristwood :)
