Numeracy-

In Maths we will be focusing on telling the time in 5 minute intervals, measuring- length, mass and capacity and we will continue to focus on number. Counting up and down from any number to a 100 and beyond, number bonds up to 20 e.g. bonds to 7, 8, 9, 13 etc. Counting in 2's, 5's and 10's ready to learn our table facts. We also need to focus on written calculations to help solve tricky problems.

We are getting competitive with learning our timetables! Each class has a special timetables mountain, children need to aim to reach the top of mountain but they must be able to learn their bonds up to 20, count in 2's, 5's and 10's and then learn the timetables fluently to reach the summit! Children can aim to get to the summit at any point in the year once reached children must be continue to learn their times tables!

English

This term our writing topic is going to be based on 'Fairies and Frogs'  we will be reading poems about frogs, innovating existing ideas and performing them.

We will then be creating information texts about life cycles of frogs.

Children will be involved in many activities such as reading and responding, they will be immersed in role-play to further embed ideas gathered. They will also get an opportunity to publish their information texts as booklets.

Topic

This term our topic is called,'Fairies and Frogs!' In science children will be exploring the life cycle of frogs and butterflies, we will be gathering lots of factual information and using this to help us with our understanding of each stage of a life cycle. Children will also be engaged in identifying different British birds and will get the opportunity to see them at close range when our special visitors come from the Bird Sanctuary. We also have a very exciting DT project linked to the element of fairies, here children will be developing their knowledge of how to write a design brief, gather ideas, plan and create their final product ready to evaluate.

Homework will be given out on a Thursday and is due in on the following Tuesday. Please make sure they are handed in on Tuesday so we have enough time to provide new homework and reading books!

PE is on Monday and Friday this half term but P.E bags must be kept in school every day so that if the timetable does change we are still able to do PE!
