Miss Lohdi supports us in class
Our Topic for this term is called
'The Big Five.'
See attached timetable mountain and mental maths document
In maths our main focus will be number, counting up and down from any number to a 100 and beyond, number bonds to 20 e.g. bonds to 7, 8, 9, understanding the value of digits in a 2 digit number and making sure we can confidently count in 2's, 5's and 10's ready to learn our table facts. We also need to focus on written calculations to help solve tricky problems.
We are getting competitive with learning our timetables! Each class has a special timetables mountain, children need to aim to reach the top of mountain but they must be able to learn their bonds up to 20, count in 2's, 5's and 10's and then learn the timetables fluently to reach the summit! Children can aim to get to the summit at any point in the year once reached children must be continue to learn their times tables!
This term our topic is going to be based on 'The Big Five,' we will be reading a range of texts linked to the Great Fire of London and gathering ideas for our reports.
Children will be involved in many activities such as researching using books and the internet, writing like 'Samuel Pepys'. Children will practise writing good, quality sentences that include adjectives, verbs, conjunctions and the use of correct punctuation and grammar.
This term our topic is called,'The Big Five!' In science children will be exploring light sources, putting together circuits and creating models of Tudor houses. Children will also be engaged in a variety of lessons linked to Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus!
Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in on the following Tuesday. Please make sure they are handed in on Tuesday so we have enough time to provide new homework and reading books!
PE is on Wednesdays and Fridays this half term but P.E bags must be kept in school every day so that if the timetable does change we are still able to do PE!
