Miss Parveen- Class Teacher
Miss Lohdi supports us in class
In numeracy we will be focusing on number work this half term. We will be embedding all the skills we have been learning so far. Children will be further embedding written strategies to help them solve tricky calculations.
will also be focusing on developing mental maths strategies so children can quickly answer the questions use ‘smart’ strategies instead of always relying on counting on their fingers.
We will also continue to learn those 'Tricky Tables' specifically the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables, so children are able to recall these facts with lots of confidence! It is really important children learn their times tables!
In this half term our topic is called ‘Fairies and Frogs’ we will be reading a range of traditional stories with a ‘twist’ like Jim and the beanstalk’, ‘Revolting Rhymes’, ‘The true story of the ‘Big Bad wolf’ .
Children will be involved in many activities such as creating wanted posters, letter writing, dairy entries, roleplay, hot seating and collecting adventurous vocabulary we can use in our own traditional story with a ‘twist’. Children need to focus on embedding good, quality sentences, children will continue to practise writing a variety of sentence types such as command, exclamation texts, and statement and question sentences. We will have lots of opportunities to improve sentence structure, looking specifically at using the correct punctuation, grammar and vocabulary.
This term our topic is called ‘Fairies and Frogs’ children will be creating a vehicle for Little Red Riding Hood in and a jewellery box for Jack to help him store the special items he takes from the Giant in DT. In science we will be looking at ‘New Life and Habitats,’ children will be learning all about life cycles of a frog and butterfly. They will also be identifying various habitats and micro-habitats. Children will also be engaged in a variety of PSHE lessons, where they will discuss what ‘Bullying’ means and the steps children can take to tackle tricky situations where they are being bullied.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in on the following Tuesday/Wednesday. Please make sure they are handed in at the latest on Wednesday so we have enough time to provide new homework and reading books!
PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays but P.E bags must be kept in school every day so that if the timetable does change we are still able to do PE!
Swimming will take place in the Summer Term-further details will be given out closer to the time!
If you have questions or queries, please do not hesitate to speak to me and the start or at the end of the day!
