What are we learning about?
Introducing our new topic: Arctic and The Spirit of Christmas!
This term our Topic is started off with ‘Pupil Voice’, which will be “Arctic”. The children will be learning about igloos and constructing their own using marshmallows and took picks. We will be looking at the climate in the Artic and how climate change is affecting the Artic and what we can do to help. We will be looking at the clothes of Inuit people and investigating how much warmer fur is than other materials we have. We will be learning about polar explorers and the different animals that live in the Artic. We will then move onto our other topic of ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ and learning all about Christmas in Russia, learning about traditional tales and making traditional foods.
Reading is a key focus as it opens up opportunities and develops your child’s understanding of stories, expectations, recognising sound and writing sentences that make sense. Your child will have a reading book and a library book each week. Please read as much as possible with your child.
Please make sure your child brings their book bag everyday and their reading book on the day they change their books. Library books are changed every Friday.
Finally, please could I ask that you provide a named water bottle for your child that can be left in school.
