Daisyfield Primary School is committed to promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These are taught throughout our broad and balanced curriculum, through PSHE lessons and during assemblies. Links to the British values are also made throughout other lessons across the curriculum.
Picture News is also used weekly during key stage assemblies which allows children to learn from the world around them. Each week, a current news story is shared with the children, followed by an image for discussion and a thought-provoking question. Picture News also provides relevant and meaningful links to British Values to support pupils' personal development. Each week, we focus on a specific British value which has been covered in assembly. Staff identify how well children are representing that value during the week. We then reward one child per week with a British Values Award in our celebration assembly.
