Spring 2 – Helping Hands

This half-term, our theme is 'Helping Hands'. As part of this, the children have been learning all about the different professionals who help people on a day-to-day basis. The children have thoroughly enjoyed becoming builders to fix things around the classroom, investigating the crimes of 'Evil Pea' from Supertato as police officers and have written their own postcards and delivered these as postal workers.

Spring 2 – World Book Day

For World Book Day, the children were invited to wear comfy clothes or pjs for the session. The children also had their parents join them to share books and spend time reading together. As you can see, there were lots of very happy children, who loved reading together.

Spring 1 - 'Critters to You' visitor

The children in Little Daisies had the opportunity to learn lots of interesting facts about the minibeasts and reptiles that came to visit. They learnt about what they eat, how big they will grow, where in the world they are from and how to look after them.

We had lots of very brave children that looked, stroked and even held some of the minibeasts.

Spring 1 - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

The children in Little Daisies have been learning the story of Goldilocks. They have had the opportunity to make and try porridge using lots of descriptive vocabulary, including some from the story. They have learnt a new Nursery Rhyme - 'When Goldilocks went to the house of the Bears' – and have used size language to sort the compare bears.

Spring 1 - Winter

The children in Little Daisies have been learning all about the season of Winter. They have explored ice and snow and made marks in the snow. They also used ice cubes to discuss how it felt, what happens when heat is applied and the differences between water and ice.

Autumn 2 - Christmas celebrations

The children in Little Daisies experienced lots of exciting celebrations towards the end of the term. They met Father Christmas, participated in a class party including traditional party games and enjoyed a short film with hot chocolate. They also developed their understanding of the Christian celebration of Christmas and took part in the KS1 and EYFS Nativity performance.

Autumn 2 - The Gingerbread Man

The children in Little Daisies have enjoyed reading the traditional tale, 'The Gingerbread Man'. They have developed their understanding of the story through reading and retelling the key events. They also baked gingerbread men, by following the recipe to mix together the ingredients, then rolled out the dough, cut them and decorated the baked biscuits.

Autumn 2 - World Nursery Rhyme week

The children in Little Daisies participated in World Nursery Rhyme week in the Autumn 2 term. They learnt some traditional Nursery Rhymes as part of the enhanced provision for the week, these songs included; Humpty Dumpty, I Hear Thunder, Sing a Song of Sixpence, Two Little Dickie Birds and When I was One. When the children arrived on Monday, they had discovered something terrible had happened to Humpty Dumpty, so they tried to stick him back together with plasters!
